The Literary South: Places of Interest in Portsmouth and Further Afield

Portsmouth and the South of England overflow with literary associations and places of interest. Small group visits can be arranged in Portsmouth, or you may choose to extend your stay to explore Portsmouth and the south more thoroughly.

Portsmouth: Sherlock Holmes and Peter Sellers were born here (the former metaphorically, the latter literally !); Conan Doyle, Kipling, James Clavell, Nevil Shute, and H G Wells all lived here. Also demanding attention are Southsea Castle, Old Portsmouth and the Cathedral, and the Historic Ships - the Mary Rose, Victory and Warrior.

Further Afield: North: Jane Austen's house; London (1.5 hours) East: Brighton and the Royal Pavilion
South: The Isle of Wight...and the sea ! West: Hardy Country, Agatha Christie Country
